Need Help Focusing? Think About Two Rabbits

The little "trick" that helps you easily visualize the pitfalls of trying to do too many things at once.

I want to share something really simple (but powerful) with you.

It's a little reminder that has "saved my butt" and helped me to truly FOCUS, time and time again.

This reminder has helped me with the "big picture" stuff (juggling multiple projects and priorities)...

...and also with the day-to-day and immediate priority stuff (what should I work on now?) .

Ready for the reminder?

"If you chase two rabbits, you will not catch either one."

Super simple, right? Here's why it's so powerful...

This old Russian proverb helps you to easily visualize the pitfalls of trying to do too many things at once.

Try it out right now and see how it works.

Close your eyes and picture yourself trying to run after two rabbits running in different directions.

Pretty fruitless, huh?

Now take a minute to think about this concept in your own life today.

Are you trying to chase "two rabbits" right now? Or is it more like three...or ten?
Are you spreading yourself too thin?
Are you saying yes too often and overextending yourself?
I'm guessing the answer is probably a big fat YES (as it often is for me)...and that's okay.

Take a moment right now to pause...

...and think about how much more effective you are when you are focused on ONE thing at a time.

Now decide on what you really need to focus on right now.

What's your Most Important Task (your "MIT")? The one that's going to make the biggest impact on your day. It's probably the one don't want to be doing but know you should :)

Can you focus on that right now?

Can you just chase one "rabbit"? Even if it's only for a few minutes.

You see, by focusing all of your attention on just one task, you can give it the attention it needs and you will get the results you deserve.
